This happened about a year already, but i just want to share it with you guys. ♥
It's an annual activity that our College (College of Business Administration) holds an outreach program in some of the remote Barangays in our Province. Indeed, it is a great honor for me to be part of the students who will go to the said Outreach Program. It is not my first time to attend such, but i am really grateful and excited at the same time. Since the call time was 6:00 am, i woke up around 4:00 am to fix and prepare my stuffs. I arrived at 6:30 am and i was anxious and somewhat horrified because there are no students in the school and i was thinking that i was being left by my classmates and schoolmates and later i realized i was the first one to arrived. :) As we wait for our other schoolmates, we took some pictures to kill the time. :)

We rode for more than 1 hour with the high-wheeled truck that our school lend us. We are really excited and ecstatic and we kept on laughing and blabbing the whole time. We were all amazed seeing those green grassy mountains and clear waters of the river in Lake Sebu. But the excitement somehow turned into adrenaline rush because the only way to get into the community is to pass the zigzag road with cliffs left and right, all we did was laugh and shout trying to feel we are just riding in a roller coaster just to hide our nervousness we feel inside.

We thought that the community was near, but soon we realized we still have to walk 3-4 kilometers. It was really exhausting since we are carrying equipment and food for the community and the road is not really accessible, we still have to cross 2 rivers, hike in several mountains plus the road was really muddy. But that won't stop nor hinder us because before we got there we already inculcated in our minds what are the purposes why we have to go there and we are eager and enthusiastic enough to worry about anything.
After approximately 2 hours of walking and hiking.FINALLY, we arrived at the community. The people were very welcoming and hospitable. (That is one thing we Filipinos must be proud of!) I can really see the happiness in their faces.
Since we are Business Administration students the main reason why we went there is conduct a seminar about Micro Financing in their Cooperative Members. The Team were divided into 3 groups. The first group composed of Accounting students were tasked for the Seminar, second group which composed of Financial Management Students were tasked for the Children's Enrichment activities and the third group composed of Marketing students were tasked for the Food preparation.
As part of the second group, we gathered all the kids and teens in the field, they were all happy, ecstatic and excited in seeing us they jumped and hugged as to death and it makes me feel so blessed. We prepared a short program for these adorable kids.
We read stories for them.
We let them color the rabbit we brought to them.
One of the student brought her portable dvd player and the kids we really serious watching the movie.
NO ONE SMILES. :)
And we played with the kids all day long.
As we chat with some of the kids, i feel pity hearing there dreams and struggles while living in this uncivilized place like them. These kids woke up at 4:00 am everyday and walk for 3-4 kilometers everyday of their lives just to get education. As we teach them to read and write they also teach us back with there dialect which is B'laan. But i already forgot those words, it's really hard to pronounce for all you know. HAHA. We roam around in their place and they showed us the hanging bridge where they usually play and hang out.
The hanging bridge is scary and it scares me like hell. I'm afraid of the heights, you know. They jump, climb and dive in the cliffs and i cannot find fear in their eyes maybe because they already used to it. They even invited us but i said no, a BIG NO actually. We gave them chocolates and they asked what are those. Geez, they don't know what chocolates are?! :( If they only knew it's the most sweetest and amazing thing in the world. :)
As we packed up our stuffs, we posed for a while like one of those Project Runway or America's Top Models. HAHA. :)
I really salute these children for their eagerness, hard work and enthusiasm because they never took poverty as a hindrance but one of the challenges in reaching their dreams and aspirations in life.
Seeing and talking with those kids inspired me a lot and made me realized some things. One is that i must be thankful and contented with what i have now. I may not living with glamour and wealth and so these children, but they are really happy because they know that in God's time they will succeed and will be living the life they really wanted to be. I really hope for the best for these children and if i will be given a chance to come back here in the future time i will surely do. I definitely want to see the changes happened in their community and to them as well.
Indeed, it was FUN-FABULOUS experience. I love the place. I love the people. I love everything there.
The kids really followed us up to our truck and they bid their goodbyes. 'til we meet again amazing children!
Note: Those date in the pictures were wrong. We were not able to change the date and time of the camera.
'til my next post.
stay blessed. :)
ciao ♥
